The Oxford School of Drama

One Year Acting Course

Minimum age for entry 21.

This is an intensive course with an extended final term to allow for the last four weeks to take place in London. The course is designed for those who have completed their academic studies and have some theatre experience already. It is important that you are bright, flexible and willing to reappraise your approach to acting through a better understanding of yourself and other people – and the demands of the profession. This course is for you if you are a high achiever, knowledgeable about the industry and determined to succeed.

In recent years graduates of the One Year Course have secured their first acting jobs with employers such as BBC Television, ITV and BBC Radio and on stage for The Royal National Theatre, Theatre Royal Haymarket, English Touring Theatre, Royal Court, Nuffield Theatre Southampton, Mercury Theatre Colchester, Out of Joint, Tiata Fahodzi, Theatre Centre, Oily Cart Theatre Company, Barbican Centre, Bristol Old Vic, English Speaking Theatre of Vienna, Glasgow Citizen's Theatre, Eastern Angles and Shared Experience.

Students on our One Year Acting Course are eligible for Government Dance and Drama Awards - and we have the highest proportion of awards of any One Year course.  These awards are available to both postgraduate and undergraduate students and they lower the course fees to just £1,250 (figure for 2008/9).  They also enable students to apply for a means-tested grant to live on.
