Faye Castelow (2007) returns to the National Theatre to play the central role of Helen in Thea Sharrock's production of After the Dance by Terence Rattigan. The production opened on the 1 June in the Lyttleton Theatre and plays until 11 August.
The production has received high acclaim from the critics:
"Thea Sharrock's superb production..everything in this production is right, from the orgiastic partying of the ageing socialites to the individual performances...Faye Castelow is all swan-necked determination as the naively redemptive Helen" **** The Guardian.
"There's superb work, too, from Faye Castelow as Helen" ***** The London Evening Standard
"Thea Sharrock's handsome, shrewdly conceived and expertly acted revival.... Faye Castelow's determined slip of a Helen - a toxic mix of perkily implacable persistence and childishly flustered need for forgiveness" *** The Independent
"The whole cast is terrific... Faye Castelow is perfect" West End Whingers website.
Faye plays opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Nancy Carroll in the production. She recently played Carol Conway in Rupert Goold's production of Time and the Conways also at the National Theatre. For further information see National Theatre website
